The Governor's Heritage Award

The Governor's Heritage Award is presented annually to outstanding individuals and organizations who meet the following criteria: 
  • Actively participating in their community as a master traditional artist, community scholar, or community historian.
     
  • Are the finest possible representatives of significant cultural traditions.
     
  • Are tradition bearers within their community and recognized as such by their community.
     
  • Have records of ongoing accomplishment and excellence.
     
  • Have contributed significantly to the cultural heritage of the State of Washington.
